Missions

Our Missions Committee oversees many of the activities our church is involved in to support works locally and around the world. Local projects we are involved in include the House of Hope and the Maxville Youth Mission.

Internationally, we are involved with the work of the Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM). Our current Partners in Mission are Jonathan & Janice Mills, who are currently working in Rwanda. They left in August, 2014 to work alongside CBM’s partner, the Association of Baptist Churches of Rwanda (AEBR). Janice is engaged in literacy training with women and coordinating short term missions teams from Canada. Jonathan works with the AEBR on capacity building, with a focus on governance and leadership. As well, they are available to teach in seminaries, Bible schools, workshops and at retreats. They keep us up-to-date on their work through their very interesting, picture-filled blogs and e-mails.

Every Sunday morning from 8:45AM to 10:30AM we offer “Coffee for Missions” including coffee and cookies. All monies collected through donations for the coffee and cookies are given to various organizations selected by the Missions Committee.

Every Sunday morning an offering is accepted during the Sunday School classes and funds collected are given to worthy missions. We pick one organization for the fall term and one for the winter/spring term each year. We have helped Arab World Media, Baldwin House, and House of Hope, among others with these funds.

Each year we partner with Samaritan’s Purse Canada to fill shoe boxes for needy children around the world. For the past several years, our church has served as the Cornwall Collection Depot for the city-wide participants in the program.
